The Hiring Timeline

The complete hiring process typically takes 2-4 months from application to final offer. Below is an overview of each phase:

Phase 1: Application Submission

Timeline: Rolling applications or specific posting period

Phase 2: Initial Interview

Timeline: 2-4 weeks after application

  • Review of availability and scheduling

Phase 3: Physical Ability Test

Timeline: As scheduled

  • Basic physical ability assessment
  • Job-related physical tasks
  • Must demonstrate ability to perform firefighting duties
  • Pass/fail evaluation

Phase 4: Panel Interview

Timeline: 2-3 weeks after physical test

  • Interview with fire department panel

  • Final job offer extended

Phase 9: Training & Probationary Period

Timeline: 6-12 months
