Minimum Requirements

Candidates must meet the following criteria to be eligible for consideration.

Full-Time

  • Citizenship: Must be a citizen of the United States.
  • Age: Must be at least 21 years of age and under 35 years of age at the time of application (unless exempt by statute).
  • Education: High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
  • Driver's License: Valid Illinois Driver's License (Class B non-CDL or equivalent required within timeframe).
  • Certifications:
    • Illinois OSFM Basic Firefighter / Firefighter II
    • EMT-B at time of hire (Must be Enrolled in a Paramedic Class, and certified within 1 year of hire)
    • Valid CPAT with Ladder Climb (issued within 1 year prior to application deadline)

Part-Time

  • Citizenship: Must be a citizen of the United States.
  • Age: Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Education: High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
  • Driver's License: Valid Illinois Driver's License (Class B non-CDL or equivalent required within timeframe).
  • Certifications:
    • Illinois OSFM Basic Firefighter / Firefighter II
    • EMT-B at time of hire
    • Valid CPAT with Ladder Climb

Residency Requirement

Employees must reside within a 75-mile radius of the Village of West Dundee within one (1) year of hire. This ensures our team can respond rapidly in times of widespread emergency.
